Andavo, Christopherson Merge, Creating Largest BCD Affiliate
Andavo Travel, a corporate travel agency based in Denver, and Christopherson Business Travel, based in Salt Lake City, have agreed to merge their operations, creating a $250 million company that employs more than 250 travel professionals. Each partner will continue to conduct business under its own brand name. Andavo’s Brenda Rivers and Christopherson’s Mike Cameron will serve as co-CEOs of the combined company.
The merger agreement — which includes Christopherson’s Denver-based company, Travel Connections and Andavo’s office in Marin, California — will maintain Andavo’s majority woman-owned business status as a nationally-certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE). It also creates the largest affiliate in the BCD Travel's 40-member network.
The Andavo Green Campaign, which was kicked off in December, will be integrated into the newly-combined company, says Rivers. Andavo's green policy encourages, and at times requires, Andavo employees, clients, suppliers and partners to contribute to a sustainable environment. The Campaign includes carbon offset-provider Renewable Choice Energy. Andavo says it has purchased more than 1,289 metric tons of carbon offsets, enough to offset the carbon dioxide pollution generated by 2 million miles of flying by its clients and the air and car travel of its employees. Also, Andavo says it has committed to offset 100 percent of its electricity consumption with renewable energy credits, which fund the generation of wind power across America.
